My friends will say that I am a warrior, tough, independent, wise, intelligent, confident, funny and a good friend. While I am all of these things, I am also a mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. I was born in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, but have lived most of my life in Cape Town, South Africa.
I am a single mother of a beautiful daughter and a grandmother to two. I am a sister to two sisters and three brothers. Yes, I was blessed to be part of a big family and this I guess is the core of the fabric of my life: Family.
I have spent the best part of my life building a career and providing for my child and typically not ensuring that a little of my efforts were focussed on me. I did, however, have a plan and one that would see me retire and do the things I have always wanted to do.
Of all the years throughout my life, none was so seismic in terms of change as was 2016. I found myself retiring a year ahead of my plan, facing the most difficult of personal challenges, my daughter immigrating with her husband to the USA and my life as it was, as I knew it completely changing. In fact so much so that what lay ahead of me was simply a "blank canvass". Now some would say how fantastic, and some would find this extremely daunting. I just simply found myself on a universal flow that I knew I needed to ride and I found the space and strength to simply go with that flow.
So this is my story or rather my account of that ride, the flow of change and the ride to come.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I know I have and still am going to......
